Flights to South Africa from the UK:

There are regular direct flights to South Africa from the UK to both Johannesburg and Cape Town from London Heathrow. British Airways, South African Airways and Virgin all have flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg and the South African airline Nationwide has regular flights to Johannesburg. Flyglobespan flies to Cape Town from Manchester during the high season.

A number of indirect flights to South Africa are also available which offer cheaper fares: Kenya Airways has flights to Johannesburg via Nairobi; Air France via Paris; Swiss via Zurich; Emirates via Dubai; Lufthansa via Frankfurt; Air Namibia via Windhoek and Qatar Airlines via Doha. Flights to South Africa can be quite expensive; for the cheapest tickets travellers are advised to book well in advance and to be flexible on dates. It is possible to get both day and night flights to South Africa.

Direct flights to South Africa take around 11 hours.



Cheap Flights to Cape Town:

South African Airways, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic all offer regular direct flights to Cape Town throughout the year. Most flights are night flights and take around 12 hours. Plenty of indirect flights are also available, stopping at Johannesburg and other international airports. These indirect routes often provide the cheapest flights to Cape Town: Air Namibia has cheap flights via Namibia; Qatar Airways via Doha; and Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Flights to Cape Town can be expensive, particularly over the busy Christmas period; for cheap flights to Cape Town travellers are advised to book well in advance.
